Watch, as a visually impaired CCFC child sponsor overcomes the challenges of travelling to Paraguay

PORT PERRY, Ont. — Imagine if you could travel to see the impact your donations make in the life of your sponsored child, their family and community. Now, consider making this journey with a visual impairment.

Sean Madsen — along with his cheerful guide dog (and sidekick) Sammy — is making that journey to Paraguay, one of Christian Children’s Fund of Canada’s (CCFC) countries of operation, to visit his sponsored child, Marcos.

Madsen used to write letters for a living as an aide to a Canadian government official. Today, that love of letter writing has led to a bond with Marcos. “I’m blessed by having a child (I’m sponsoring) who likes to write letters,” says Madsen in the video below. “And, [Marcos] always says ‘please write back, I’m waiting for your letter!’”

While in Paraguay, Madsen will also meet government officials and media, promoting the rights of people with disabilities. Watch this video of Madsen and Sammy as they prepare for their 7,750-km trip to Paraguay.

You, too, can develop a relationship with a child in need. Sponsor a child today, and you will change the life of a child, their family and community.
